10 Best Things To Do At Punahou Carnival

February 3, 2015 By Nick Kawakami

Every year, on the first weekend in February, the high-school junior class at Punahou School organizes a huge carnival. Featuring food & game booths run by the juniors, and rides by E.K. Fernandez, the carnival attracts thousands of locals and visitors. It’s the primary fundraiser for the Punahou School financial aid program, and brings in tons of income for the local economy.

All those stats are fine and dandy, but I have my list of “must-dos” every year. Here are the top 10… [Read more…] about 10 Best Things To Do At Punahou Carnival

Reports: Obama to Cut FHA Mortgage Premium Rates

January 8, 2015 By Nick Kawakami

According to both the Star-Advertiser and Bloomberg Business News, President Obama plans to have the FHA reduce its annual mortgage insurance premiums by 0.5 percentage points, to 0.85 percent.

What does this mean? If you are a first-time homebuyer or able to refinance into a government-backed FHA loan, you could see a great reduction in your costs. Each mortgage needs to be covered by mortgage insurance, in case of problems, and that cost is usually added to your monthly payment. With this announcement, the government hopes to spur more buying by making the insurance premium more affordable.

Of course, with any of these loan products, there are positive and negatives to each. If you are thinking about buying or refinancing, I recommend contacting your lending agent for more complete information. If you need help finding a qualified agent or have any other questions, please feel free to contact me!

My Year on Amazon Prime! Was it Worth it?!

December 27, 2014 By Nick Kawakami

First and foremost, this post is assuming a couple things. One, that you know what online shopping is, since you are reading a blog and using a computer…with your hands. And two, that you’ve heard of Amazon.com, because internets. If these assumptions are incorrect, please turn around now and find your nearest grand-kid to teach you…haha!

Personally, 2014 has been quite an adventure, with trips around the world and changes galore! Unlike me, the internet’s perennial constant, Amazon.com, has once again asked me to subscribe to Prime membership for 2015! Was it worth it? [Read more…] about My Year on Amazon Prime! Was it Worth it?!
